Ending the night with a win for the girls and a loss for the boys, both soccer teams look to improve their game for upcoming competition. While the girls took the victory, junior and captian Avery Jennings believes there is still room for improvement, and the team is looking forward to cleaner level of play in the future.

Pitting the Redhawks versus the Racoons on the pitch, the boys’ and girls’ soccer team took on the Frisco Racoons Tuesday night in District 9-5A matches, with the results ending in a split.

Bouncing back from a 2-1 loss to Lebanon Trail on Friday, the girls’ team scored a 2-0 win, however some players such as junior, captain Avery Jennings, feel like they could have played better.

“I think we are all glad that we got the three points after the win,” Jennings said. “But it wasn’t the cleanest game we’ve played and it had a lot of injuries.”

The win keeps the team in fourth place, just one point out of second.

It was a different story for the boys’ team. Missing several starters due to injury, the Racoons got the best of the Redhawks 4-0.

Senior, captain Ara Gevorgyan, believes the team’s mental toughness might have cost them.

“It was a weird game going into it,” senior and captain Ara Gevorgyan said. “The weather was cold and there was lots of wind, and that got into our heads and it showed.”
