Balancing dance, choir, wrestling, and academics, sophomore Sarah Ramos focuses hard in class to maintain her grades. While Ramos works on both choir and dance continuously, she prefers choir, because of her background with vocal performance.

Future job: Pediatric Oncology

Wingspan: Do you prefer dance or choir?

Ramos: “Probably choir. I have done it for longer.”

Wingspan: What type of music do you prefer to sing?

Ramos: “I like Broadway music because it’s challenging and it allows me to actually challenge myself with music.”

Wingspan: How do you manage both dance and choir?

Ramos: “Well I don’t know. I obviously make what I like the most a priority but at the same time I also understand that both of them are commitments so I need to make enough time for both, just have a bit more time for one more than the other.”

Wingspan: Have you learned anything in dance that you can pass over into choir or vice versa?

Ramos: “I think maybe just obviously like not giving up on myself whenever I can’t figure out a move or something in dance. I carry that same attitude whenever I pick up a new song and don’t get it right the first time. I Just keep working on it.”

Wingspan: Do you consider yourself a better singer or a better dancer?

Ramos: “Probably a better singer.”

Wingspan: Why did you start singing and dancing?

Ramos: “Well last year an option was just higher levels of dance so I just wanted to try that out as coming into high school like a new thing and choir I’ve just kind of always sang. Since I was little I have always liked singing and being able to express myself in that way.”

Wingspan: How do you prepare for the Winner extravaganza?

Ramos: “I think it’s a lot of teamwork in choir and just blending and listening to each other and paying attention to the teacher a lot because obviously she is conducting us but mainly it’s just knowing that at the end of the day it’s going to sound good because we’ve gotten enough direction to able to make it happen.”
