With their spring season cancelled due to COVID-19, many golfers are left disappointed. However that’s not the case for seniors Tyler Shippy and Sona Shah who were named to the All-State Academic Golf Team.

The golf season gets into full swing on Friday as the top five boys and girls travel to the Golf Club Fossil Creek in Fort Worth to compete in the Pioneer Invitational.

“I feel excited because it’s the start of spring season,” captain, junior Raeligh Davisdson said. “It’s also kinda nerve racking as our tournaments start to matter more as districts approach.”

Receiving more than 11” of rain in February, the wettest February in Dallas-Ft. Worth in history, the team has been hampered by a lack of practice time.

“I think the team will do pretty good. We haven’t gotten to practice much because of the weather,” Davidson said. “Now as spring season starts we are trying to put all the pieces together in order to get the results we want.”
