Frisco ISD superintendent Dr. Mike Waldrip is hosting a Facebook Live Teacher of the Year celebration Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. that honor each school’s Teacher of the Year winner. The ceremony will also include the announcement of the top 10 teachers from which one elementary and one secondary teacher will be named as the district’s Teacher of the Year.

Campus Teacher of the Year Chris Ham appreciates what the district is doing.

“We were supposed to have a banquet at the Omni Hotel to celebrate all of the Teacher of the Years but it obviously had to be cancelled,” Ham said via email. “But the district is still celebrating all of us through a virtual setting. So I appreciate Frisco ISD for still finding a way to celebrate despite the limitations. Especially with all of the challenges right now, they could have easily cancelled everything but they still put in the time and effort to celebrate teachers. Any celebration and positivity is much needed during this time!”

There will be another Facebook Live presentation on April 30 with Dr. Waldrip announcing the district’s elementary school Teacher of the Year and the secondary Teacher of the Year.
