4A schools take over band hall

The school is hosting the 4A All-Region band competition Friday leaving the band hall and auditorium off limits for students most of the day as band members from other schools rehearse and perform.

“We are hosting the UIL competition for all of the 4A schools in the area,” assistant principal Phil Brown said. “Heritage is hosting 6A and one of the other schools is hosting the 5A schools.”

This isn’t the first time, the school has hosted such a competition.

“[The school] hosts quite often because our director Mr.Weaver is on the board,” Brown said.  “We also don’t mind hosting because it gets Frisco ISD involved in [extracurricular activities].”

Even though the band and orchestra classes are being moved to other rooms, the school is willing to host despite the room changings.

“We don’t mind hosting because it gets Frisco ISD involved in band,” Brown said. “Sometimes we are willing to host so that our students are able to be involved in those competitions and participate while still being involved in their academics.”
