Wingspan: Why did you start to play tennis?

Blasingame: “I had wanted to play tennis for a while just because it looked like fun. My freshman year I started hitting a little with my friend, and I realized I wasn’t that bad. I had also heard great things about the team and coaches, so I decided to try out at the end of my freshman year.”

Wingspan: What is the hardest part about tennis?

Blasingame: “The hardest part about tennis is really the mental aspect. Since your out there on your own in singles, you have to dial in on every point and not let any pressure get to you because it’s a precise sport.”

Wingspan: What’s your favorite part about playing tennis?

Blasingame: “My favorite part about playing tennis is probably fall matches because there is a lot of energy surrounding playoffs and it makes us closer as a team. I also like how accessible it is. You can go practice with a friend or by yourself pretty much anytime and see yourself get better.”

Wingspan: Being a senior, what are you going to miss most about tennis next year?

Blasingame: “I’m going to miss people on the team, and how fun it is to play tennis competitively.”

Wingspan: When you aren’t at tennis how do you like to spend your time?

Blasingame: “I work a lot, but when I have free time I like to swim and watch shows on Netflix like The Office.”
