Finishing the 2019 season with a win over Wakeland to snap a 20 game losing streak, the football team hopes to carry some momentum to their scrimmage against Royse City High School Friday at 6 p.m.

It certainly made the offseason better, but with what has transpired so far in 2020, that seems like a really long time ago,” head coach Matt Swinea said. “This is a new season and a new team. Those that have moved up from the JV had a tremendous season.  We all know what winning tastes like and we are hungry for more.”

Normally the team’s scrimmage comes in August, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the start of the season was pushed back with the team’s first game on Sept. 25. We start every season with a scrimmage,” Swinnea said. “It’s just a great opportunity to go against someone else in a competitive, game-like environment and have it on film. The importance of having a film to identify strengths and weaknesses is huge. We will find out what we need to improve on moving forward.”
