After a week-long delay due to rain, the girls’ golf team tees off in a three day tournament Thursday at 8:00 a.m. at Sherill Park course.

The team has spent more time than usual on the course this week with hopes of improving scores from the last tournament.

“We have been doing drills at practice to prepare but also using more course time then usual this week because we played a qualifier Tuesday and Thursday to earn our positions or spots on the team,” senior Raeleigh Davidson said via text.

To prepare for the pressure the team will feel in the tournament, head coach Shannon Glidwell had the team compete in a mini tournament against one another.

“We have had some qualifying rounds prior to this event,” Glidwell said via email. “The girls were divided into two teams, Team Taffy and Team Bubblegum. Those were to get us ready for some tournament pressure and to simulate tournament play.”

After a long week of practices, the team feels confident about their ability to place well and improve their scores from the last tournament.

“I just want them to work hard on every shot,” Glidwell said. “We had some lapses in our last tournament, but I am hoping that we will have a much more team-wide effort of stronger focus and attention to detail.”
