The Redhawks swimming and diving team takes on Independence High School Thursday at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium.

Along with the rest of the team, sophomore Maria Oushalkas has been working to improve her times from the last meet and pull out the first win of the season.

“Our strengths would be the sprint events and we all need to improve on the transitions between people for relays,” Oushalkas said via text. “We are preparing for the meet by working on those transitions and speed.”

The team feels confident in their ability to improve scores since last time and have high hopes for closer times than last week.

“I think the boys have a shot at winning and the girls will lose since it’s three girls versus eight girls and mathematically they will win,” Oushalkas said.
