The Redhawk golf teams compete this weekend in the Frisco Cup, a two day tournament on Friday and Saturday at Frisco Lakes with tee times beginning at 8:00 A.M.

“My prediction is that for the girls side of the tournament it’ll come down to us or Lebanon Trail because we’ve gone back and forth so far this season,” senior Raleigh Davidson said via text.

Confident in his team, coach Shannon Glidwell believes with the extra individual practice his team has had, they are ready to compete.

“We have been playing very solid golf for the most part, but we really need to focus on our scoring clubs, chipping and putting especially,” Glidwell said via email. “We have just been fine-tuning as individuals to get ready.  Each player is focusing on their particular area of concern. I believe they are all ready to play.”

Along with the solo practice times, the team feels they will have an added advantage with their strong team communication and teamwork.

“I think our strength is having a solid team that has multiple good players, we just need to all show up and play good at the same time and get more consistent at that the rest of the season,” Raleigh said.

With hopes of securing the team’s spot as top in the district, Glidwell is optimistic about the team’s ability to take home 1st place continuing the team’s consecutive winning streak.

“We have the expectation to win the Frisco Cup,” Glidwell said.  “We are defending champions and we fully believe that we will retain the school championship again this year. We are capable of playing excellent golf, and with the senior leadership we have with the girls and the strength of our boys team overall, we should be able to come home with the school championship at this year’s Frisco Cup.”
