Tennis places top 5

Redhawk tennis hosts the Independence Knights at The Nest on Tuesday, with hopes of achieving a win. Many players believe consistency and teamwork will secure the win.

The Redhawk tennis team competed in the Polar Vortex on Friday with multiple athletes placing in the top 5.

Senior Yatin Pokle took 1st place in boys’ singles, sophomores Sanjheev Rao and Milla Dopson finished in 1st place in mixed doubles, freshmen Thara Rao and Sawa Okamoto took 4th place in girls’ doubles, and freshman Purnoor Sharma finished in 4th place in girls’ singles.

Sophomore Morgan Mowery believes the team’s preparations in the offseason gave them the advantage they were seeking.

“I think that we played well as we have made a lot of progress,” Mowery said. “We definitely saw improvement from the work we’ve put in over the offseason.”

The tournament has given sophomore Sanjheev Rao hopes of placing well in their district tournament in the 

“Our team has come pretty close with some of the best teams in the district and state this year, so our chances of winning are high if we play like we have been recently,” Rao said.
