Redhawk basketball heads back to the Nest this Friday for a home game against the Wakeland Wolverines. The Redhawks will be defending their court this Friday as their last few games required the teams to travel within the district.

The basketball teams started off the weekend right in District 9-5A play with the boys defeating the Memorial Warriors 67-62 on Friday, and the girls caging the Frisco Racoons 56-17 on Saturday.

Senior Myson Huff feels he owes the team’s win to all of the work they have put in at practices.

“We take practices very seriously and we stretch a lot and perfect all of our plays so we won’t have any issues in games,” Huff said via text.

For the girls’ team, the win has made coach Ross Reedy believe that his team has what it takes to have a strong end to the season and create a name for themselves.

“We know that we’re on the verge of putting together a good brand for basketball,” Reedy said. “We want to see resilience, being okay with the ups and downs and the flow of the game.”
