As choir students enter into their busiest time of the year, select students have cleared the first hurdle with their solo competition.

“So the choir solo contest is being handled differently this year,” director Toni Ugolini said. “Normally they sing in front of a judge whereas this year it’s going to be virtual, which means that all students submitted recordings of themselves singing their solos and I’ll upload those for the judges and they’ll listen to them remotely and share their comments.”

Senior Gabriel Armstrong thinks the competition is a great way to showcase the students’ skills even in spite of the virtual format.

“I feel the choir solo contest is a great way to show our skills that we have developed over the years,” he said. “This year’s weird just because it’s virtual, but it still gives us all the same experience and I’m just glad we’re still able to do it.”
