When most people hear the words “Valentine’s Day,” they immediately scoff or begin ranting about how useless the holiday of love is. Most people see Valentine’s Day as possibly the most commercialized holiday of the year.

Although I do agree with the fact that Valentine’s Day advertisements are often unrealistic, there is no need to full on bash it. People are so quick to hate the idea of flowers and giant teddy bears, but I personally think it’s quite thoughtful and sweet.

While most people mentally gag at the sight of a couple together in public, I think it’s really sweet to see two people showing their infatuation for each other.

Although most people see Valentine’s Day as a materialistic holiday, it is not all about the gifts. It is about expressing your affection for somebody.

That being said, it doesn’t necessarily have to be romantic. Just because you’re single, doesn’t mean you can not participate in Valentine’s Day. My friends and I always get each other cute gifts to celebrate the holiday. So, Valentine’s Day doesn’t always have to be a waste of money or a depressing day for singles. No matter your status, you can make the day fun!
