Whether it’s blooming flowers that trigger allergies, or the stress of exams, guest contributor Shruti Bhoyar has anything but spring fever.

I hate spring and always will.

The months of March, April and May are the most uneventful but simultaneously the most stressful times of my life.

Early into spring is when teachers get all giddy and start giving us false hope by saying the school year is almost over. What they fail to mention is that along with the end of the year comes final tests. The prospect of school coming to a close, overshadows the crippling stress of AP tests, STAAR tests, and all of the pointless end of year activities, remind me scarily of forced family fun. Not to mention some teachers clearly communicated with each other because this whole year I’ve had three major tests fall on one day three times.

I understand that Texas weather is unpredictable everyday, but it gets ridiculous in the spring. You never know what to wear to bed, how many blankets, whether the fan is cool enough or if you need to turn the air conditioning on. Along the same lines of fashion, what does one wear outside? Still too cold for shorts but too hot for jeans, not knowing whether to bring a jacket because you don’t wanna be cold but you also don’t wanna carry around dead weight.

THE ALLERGIES. Though I don’t personally struggle with hayfever or spring-related illnesses, the level of annoyingness sitting in a room with 15 people sniffling is next to unbearable. This reason is more of a negative reflection on my indifference to people who constantly have to excuse themselves to blow their nose, but it’s one of the few things that bothers me to my core.

Then there is spring cleaning. Enough on that.

My pessimistic tone may make me sound like a miserable person, but I’m really not. I just wish I could fast forward this time of year because I have nothing to look forward to when it rolls around.

Happy spring everyone!
