The Redhawk volleyball team took on the Duncanville Tournament of Champions Friday and Saturday, finishing with a 3-1 record. Before falling to Plano West 2-0, the team defeated MacArthur High School 3-0, Waxahachie High School 3-0, and Duncanville High School 2-1.

“We have been playing about a week already and the team looks really good so far,” head coach Clarke Oberle said. “We have several returning players that are out with injuries still recovering from the past season and spring.”

Although the team is down a few members, junior Campbell Peters is looking forward to competing alongside her teammates.

“I feel like so far we are pretty prepared because we have had a lot of practices so far so I am excited to see how the season goes,” Peters said.

As returning members come back, the team looks forward to teaching freshman athletes the ropes of the course.

“The new kids we’ve got now are looking really good and we’ve still got a few matches before districts start but I feel like by the 27th, we will be ready,” Oberle said.
