After warming up their skills in a tournament Aug. 20-21, the Redhawk volleyball team gears up to take on Rockwall Heath High School in a non-district contest Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Nest.

A new school year brings new players to the team and while no freshman athletes have taken on any varsity positions this year, head coach Clark Oberle is impressed by the new athletes who have stepped up to play.

“Some of the new faces this year, like the sophomores who played last year, have really impressed us so far,” Oberle said. “We are excited to see how the season plays out.”

Although senior Paeton Davis is currently unable to play due to an injury, she is thankful for the time she gets to spend alongside her teammates.

“Based on our preseason so far, I think we are going to perform pretty well,” Davis said. “Since my injury, I feel like I have been more attentive in the games and I have been able to help out the girls who play my same position which is something I have really enjoyed so far.”
