The Redhawk volleyball team now stands at 5-2 after bringing home a win Tuesday in their non-district contest against Rockwall Heath High School. The team took all three sets (25-23, 25-21, and 25-23), leaving them with a 3-0 win.

With the team gearing up for their next tournament taking place Thursday, head coach Clark Oberle believes the team has what it takes to come out strong as new athletes mean formation of new bonds.

“Our team chemistry and our relationships are our biggest thing right now,” Oberle said. “A sophomore on varsity, doing really well so far who played JV last year, is MJ McCurdy. She is an outside hitter who is looking really strong right now.”

One of few sophomores on the team who played on JV as a freshman, McCurdy feels has given the group an added advantage.

“Going into this year I already knew most of the team because I came straight from JV instead of the freshman team,” she said. “I feel like it has really helped our chemistry and has made us a stronger team.”
