With its homestyle food served in Texas sized portions, Red Truck Cafe makes diners feel at home with its heavy southern influence on comfort food. And for those that like desserts, the cobbler is “heavenly” according to guest contributor Espy Padgett.

“Serving up traditional, homestyle food, Red Truck Cafe is the go-to spot for a comfortable meal…” Red Truck Cafe has a heavy southern influence on food that takes you right back home.

The tables are clean and stocked with all the necessities needed for a breakfast experience with quick service to supply a piping hot cup of coffee. The menus are sanitized and easy to follow with the average price about $10-11 per meal, sides and desserts about $3-4 which is reasonable and even more affordable for a diner.

The surroundings are bright and busy, the conversations filling the crisp fall air, with a smile from the waitress who checks in to refill that cup every couple minutes. There’s hand drawn art on the walls, as well as a whole section where check out was that contained shelves upon shelves of red truck figurines.

The eggs benedict is perfectly light and a refreshing breakfast to start your day. The toasted English muffin with poached eggs is finished with smoky ham. It’s covered in creamy cheese to top it off and a side of fresh fruit to clean the palette.

Moving to a heavier meal, the stack of buttermilk pancakes contains three huge home cooked pancakes. They were light and airy with a side of whipped butter and syrup to suit everyone’s taste. The side of bacon doesn’t automatically come with the stack, but it definitely complemented the meal. The bacon was crispy and smoky and was especially flavorful when paired with maple syrup with the ¨melt in your mouth¨ sensation.

However, the star of the show is most definitely the apple cobbler, although their cobbler changes by season. With the first taste there was the refreshing homemade vanilla ice cream seeping into the crispy top. Within that was a warm bite of cinnamon and nutmeg caramelizing the soft apples. It got better and better and at a low cost for a heavenly experience.

All food presentations give the idea that everything is bigger in Texas with minimal thought put behind it, but presented in a uniform fashion. The experience was amazing and the fruit cobbler won first place, a perfect place for a morning or night to feel at home even if far away.
