The boys’ basketball team continued its unbeaten start in District 9-5A play on Friday when they hit the road and caged the Wakeland Wolverines 56-52.

“They played really well and they got off to a good start,” assistant coach Bruce Wright said. “They hit a stretch, a little bit of a lull, but Wakeland’s a really good team and they made a run, making it a close game. But the guys really showed their resiliency and everything that they’ve been working for in the summer, and in the spring, and now in the fall to pull out a victory. And it was a real sign of their mental toughness to do that at Wakeland.”

Starting off 2-0 in district play, junior Matthew Bishop feels the energy of his team and the momentum at the start gave them the outcome they hoped for.

“The team played well. We started off really strong and the lead we got was able to carry us through the game” Bishop said. “We had a lot of energy throughout the whole game and played as a good team.”
