The Redhawk boy’s basketball team was unable to pull out a win over the Memorial Warriors on Tuesday when they lost 83-60 in a District 9-5A matchup.

“I think, you know, we didn’t follow our game plan. And too we, I think we got caught up in playing the way they play instead of playing the way that we play,” head coach Steven Friar said. “I think now it’s just about making sure we get back to our identity and understanding who we are and making sure we kind of highlight who we are instead of playing to who we aren’t. And then just making sure we focus on winning that day. Not looking ahead, but just focusing on the moment.”

The Redhawks kept it close early against the Warriors, ranked first in District 9-5A, but fell short in the fourth quarter.

“We want to make sure that those little mistakes we were making don’t turn into big time habits,” assistant coach Bruce Wright said. “So you got to, you know, stop them early. So that’s what we’ve been working on.”

As the Redhawks move further into the season, they are continuing to strengthen the same things they have been working on all year.

“We’re really just still working on the same things we’ve been working on all year to make sure our communication is sharp, since we talk a lot,” junior Kaden Groom said. “We need to rebound the ball heavily and that’ll be something big going into the games in the future.”
