Heading to the Ford Center on Tuesday, the Redhawk soccer teams battle the Independence Knights in District 9-5A games.

After a tie on Friday with Memorial, the girls are trying to score more goals when they face the Knights at 5:30 p.m on Tuesday.

“Some things that we are working on for tonight are taking the ball out of the air, because Independence likes to play the ball in the air, so we are really concentrating on that,” head coach Kyle Beggs said. “And then just supporting playing the attacking third and trying to score more goals.”

The boys kick off at 7:00 p.m at the Ford Center with hopes of adding another win to their 6-0-4 record in District 9-5A.

Tuesday’s game could be even bigger for the girls’ team however as both the Redhawks and Knights enter the contest in a tie for 5th place in District 9-5A, one point out of the final playoff spot.

“I expect it to be a very physical game. Independence is usually very physical,” Beggs said. “I think that we will be able to move the ball very well. Last time we played them the score didn’t reflect how well we played. And so I’m expecting us just to continue moving the ball around and shooting and trying to score goals.”
