As most of us who have seen the news know, there is conflict building up between Ukraine and Russia. This is affecting all of us tremendously, especially those of us who have family that live there, or are from there.

We don’t realize how hard it is for students to continue their day to day lives and perform well in school when in the back of their minds, they have to worry about the health and wellbeing of family members.

Politics in school isn’t talked about enough. Teachers have no idea how this can affect students mentally. If what’s going on is going to be talked about, then teachers need to be understanding about the situation and offer extensions, extra credit, etc.

Because we’re growing up in an era where there’s so much research done on how mental health affects teenagers, we need to realize that politics in school is a serious topic and it must be handled in the right way.
