From milkshakes to edible cookie dough, The Yard Milkshake Bar in The Colony is unlike most other dessert shops in the area.

Walking in, customers are immediately greeted with the smell of cookies and chocolate. Visually the seasonal decorations combined with the rustic feel give it a very comforting sense that is highlighted by its small tables and chairs. The light up sign and the farm decorations also make it super fun and lighthearted.

Their specialty milkshakes are over the top and large in proportion. They have seasonal flavors along with 18 other shake flavors which include Cookie Monster, The Texas Twister and Old School Banana Split. Plus, with the purchase of one, you get to keep the mason jar it comes in.

Every one of them comes with something fun added on top, including, but not limited to, donuts, brownies, edible cookie dough and cupcakes. With all this added, any milkshake order may be best shared as each treat is rich and sweet.

Their Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice shake is a cookies and cream flavor with marshmallow fluff on the outside of the jar and an edible cookie dough gravestone pop on top. The treat itself was delicious but super sugary. This was only one of their three holiday drinks that they were providing this past fall, including Trick-or-Sweet and I Put a Spell on You and Now Your Mine.

Beyond the shakes, the ice cream flavors are just as fun and include the basics, but also things like Midnight Caramel River, Cookie Butter Craze and RoadRunner Raspberry. They are a must try as you will never find flavors like these anywhere else.

The one downfall: the cookie, which doesn’t compare to the ice cream treats they offer. It has a weird playdough taste, and if it sits out for even a couple minutes, it becomes a little flakey and is not as dense or sweet.

However, milkshakes are what The Yard Milkshake Bar is all about, and ultimately they make this a place to visit.
