Soccer is heading into their second half of District 10-5A play on Tuesday as both teams take on Walnut Grove for the second time this season. The girls head into the second half of district play in search of their first win, and the boys, who have not lost in their past four games, are looking for revenge on the Wildcats.

The Redhawk soccer teams could not cage the Wakeland Wolverines on March 4, with the girls finishing with a draw and the boys facing their first loss.

After losing to the Wolverines earlier in the season, the girls’ improved this time, ending with a 1-1 tie.

“The team played really well against Wakeland and tied them, which is really good because they’re in second place right now,” junior Reese Brown said.

“The team worked on playing together and staying connected both offensively and defensively to tie Wakeland.”

The boys’ undefeated season in District 9-5A came to an end when they fell 5-2 to number two Wakeland.

“Wakeland is a very good team and we knew it would be a tough game,” assistant coach Kyle Parks said. “We prepared and played well, but Wakeland came up with more goals on the day. It’s hard to remain undefeated after 18 games.”

According to Parks, the boys are working on making minor adjustments in order to come out with more wins.

“As a team, we’re working on set pieces and defending in the air,” Parks said. “Although we played well overall, we can make some small adjustments to be even better.”
