While many students may have been able to compete in UIL through fine arts or athletics, for other students this weekend is the chance to compete in the UIL District 9-5A Academic Meet.

“So they compliment all the core courses,” UIL campus academics coordinator. “And also elective business elective courses, so its science, there math competition, English, literature, debate,  and then accounting, computer applications, and all the journalism events as well.”

UIL coach Colin Kantor feels his students are prepared for this weekend.

“I feel great,” Kantor said. “I like the students that I have are really prepared and we have been able to bond and I think they’re ready and I’m looking forward to seeing how they do.”

For many students, such as sophomore Anaiya Chitre, competing in UIL academics helps students go about their strengths.

“It just helps students go about their strengths,” Chirte said. “So my strengths are spelling and current events so I chose those subjects I think it’s a great way to challenge themselves in that specific area.”
