The Redhawks headed into a duel with the Knights Tuesday, looking for a win. With a one win season so far, the team is eager to step up to bat again and improve after Tuesday’s game.

Taking on the Independence Knights for the second time this season, the Redhawks softball team didn’t get the results they expected, losing 23-7 on Tuesday.

“It was a tough loss,” assistant coach Kristin Binyon said. “We went into that game feeling really confident about bats and gloves. We just had some compounding errors in one inning.”

Even though they lost, freshman Ainslee Palmer believes the game was a good learning experience.

“I feel like we have a lot to work on, and we know that,” she said. “We could definitely improve our feilding. We just need to get routine plays and really get out there and be ready to get it. We were not expecting this loss.”

Already looking to improve, the Redhawks softball team was out Wednesday morning working on common mistakes from the game.

“We’re just working on those routine plays again and fielding,” coach Binyon said. “So right now I feel like it was a good learning tool for us.”
