If you went up to a hundred people on the street and asked them what their favorite TV show is, I guarantee you many of them would say The Walking Dead.

I can’t blame them. I mean, what’s not to love? The show is nothing short of art. The fact that they were able to make a show about dead people walking around so grounded and serious truly amazes me.

Before The Walking Dead started, many people, including me, didn’t take zombies seriously. I mean, how could walking corpses possibly make a serious show or movie? I often wondered that myself. Then The Walking Dead started. I didn’t watch The Walking Dead when it first started, as I was too young at the time. However, whenever I would talk to someone who watched it, they would often say it was one of the best shows they had ever watched.

It took me until early 2015, right after the fifth season had ended, for me to finally start watching it. I had just finished watching Breaking Bad with my mom and dad, and I absolutely loved it. We started to look for a replacement show, and I suggested The Walking Dead. My parents were a bit skeptical at first, but after we started watching, we were hooked. My little brother also watches the show, and he is almost as hooked as I am. However, I would consider myself a serious fan, while my brother is just a casual viewer.

We finished watching seasons one through five right after season six started, so thank goodness for DVR’s. I’ve got to say, while season five was a bit of a let down, season six has not disappointed in the slightest. Each episode is filled with non-stop action and tension, and every episode ends on a cliffhanger.

The spin off show, Fear the Walking Dead, is also a great show. The first time I watched it, I loved it even more than the original show. However, as I was watching the first season over again in preparation for the second season starting in April, I realized that I was little bit bored. The original Walking Dead is a show that you can watch over and over and never get bored, but Fear the Walking Dead is one of those shows that gets boring after the first or second time. But still, like the original, it is a great show.

Currently, The Walking Dead is planned through season 12, and Fear the Walking Dead is on a sort of play it by ear basis. I expect to see Fear make it into at least season three, but probably not much longer than five. I expect the original show to finish out it’s planned 12 season run with success. If everything happens as planned, we will have enough Walking Dead to take us into the first few months of 2022! And that’s not even including the comics, which will most likely keep going for decades. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am!
