Featured Athlete: Damon Benson
Wingspan’s featured athlete for 8/25 is junior Damon Benson. Benson is starting his first year on the varsity football team, and will be playing in the position of defensive back this season.

Wingspan: When and why did you start playing football?
Benson: “I started playing in 7th grade at Fowler middle school because me and my friends thought it would be something fun to do.”
Wingspan: What is your favorite part of football?
Benson: “My favorite part about football is winning and becoming a family with my teammates.”
Wingspan: How have you been preparing for this season?
Benson: “I have been working all summer in strength and conditioning/skills.”
Wingspan: Who is your biggest supporter?
Benson: “My biggest supporter is my mom.”
Wingspan: What is the biggest challenge with football?
Benson: “The biggest challenge in football for me is morning practice.”
Wingspan: Do you see yourself playing football past high school?
Benson: “I don’t see myself playing after high school but I still love the sport.”
