Football gears up for their last chance at a win on Friday when they face the Sherman Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. at The Star. Seniors are hoping to have fun and pull out a win in their final game as a Redhawk.

Headed into their final game of the season, the Redhawk football team is still hoping to get their first win, playing Sherman High School Friday at The Star.

“It’s my final game with some of my favorite people,” senior Ethan Ashmore said. “All of us guys are just ready to go out there and get a win and have fun in our final game.”

I always plan and prepare to win,

— assistant coach Elliot Parkman

For head football coach Matt Swinnea, he believes the way you finish is most important.

“I told the seniors a while back you know the way you finish is the way people remember you,” Swinnea said. “I mean, think back to 2019 we lost 9 and won the last 1 against Wakeland. That’s what people remember about that team. They don’t remember the 9 losses, they remember that win. So that’s what I want for those guys.”

The expectations and motivation have been a constant for assistant coach Elliot Parkman.

“We’ve been staying motivated by finding the positives and building off them. Also by celebrating the little things,” Parkman said. “I always plan and prepare to win. I expect us to play hard and coach hard.”

But for senior Will Jackson, having fun is what matters to him in his last game.

I’m here to play for my brothers that I’ve played with for four years,

— senior Alex Trevino

“I’m just trying to have fun one last time out on the field,” Jackson said. “I’m competitive and hate losing, but I’m really just trying to enjoy the game.”

Senior Alex Trevino is prepared to put it all on the line in order to score a win for his last game as a Redhawk.

“I’m here to play for my brothers that I’ve played with for four years, and they keep me motivated,” Trevino said. “I’m playing my final football game, so I have to put it all on the line tonight and I got to impress. I expect all the boys on the team to play their best and to fight like we fought in the past, and hopefully we can come up with a win.”
