The wrestling teams earned a 36-20 win against Wakeland on Wednesday, and they look for more success at the Santa Slam Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m.

“Both guys and girls beat Wakeland at the dual,” co-head coach Arman Mansouri said. “We performed very well and had several individuals step up in matches that we needed them to win. I am extremely proud of how we performed.”

Senior James Ethan Harris is taking what the team learned from competing against Wakeland into the Santa Slam duals.

“Our team worked hard to pull through yesterday,” Harris said. “Our team wrestled smarter and we were better conditioned than Wakeland. We are preparing for the Santa slam duals by fixing our little mistakes made during our Wakeland dual. If we keep working like we have been, we will come out on top Friday.”

Mansouri looks forward to competing against higher level teams.

“Santa slam duals will take place on Friday, and I expect to compete with any team we get matched up with,” Mansouri said. “I am also looking forward to the Santa Slam tournament that will be taking place on Saturday. There will be several tough 6A, 5A, and out of state teams present. We are very excited for this upcoming test.”
