The act of setting a New Year’s resolution can be dated back to the early 19th century. It started off as people making excuses for their bad behavior but now New Year’s resolutions have evolved into a tradition that we take part in every year.

As 2023 is right around the corner, people are starting to set their New Year’s resolutions. People take part in this to “better” themselves in the coming year. However, more often than not, these resolutions are not followed through because people set extremely high expectations for themselves.
For example, when I read books, my expectations for life in general are way too high. Sometimes I have to remember that I’m reading fiction and that the characters are all made up.

Even though this is not fiction and there are times when people accomplish their goals, most people have a hard time with that. That’s not to say that most people can’t accomplish their goals; people just have a harder time getting to the finish line of an unrealistic goal.

Before this year ends, I encourage all of you to set a goal for yourself that you know you can accomplish. Whether that’s an easy-to-reach goal or one that has high expectations. Whatever it is, make sure you follow through, you’ll feel so good when you do 🙂
