Competing in the local tournaments, the girls’ soccer team won all three of their games with the boys’ team winning two.

The girls allowed just one goal over its three games in beating Mesquite Poteet, Anna, and Wylie.

“They are good results. They were against some good tough teams that wanted to play us very physically,” girls’ head coach Kyle Beggs said. “The girls did very well, they moved the ball around and we really felt like built some momentum building up to our district play.”

With District 10-5A play starting Wednesday against Centennial, junior Cate Butcher believes the team learned what they could improve on for district play.

“We beat the first team 1-0 and played really well together but I feel we could have finished more chances we created against Mesquite,” Butcher said.  “Once we improve on finishing and getting a use in the final third, will really improve our chances in the district.”

The boys faced off against Amarillo, Anna, and HSAA. But the boys couldn’t win all their games, coming up with a 1-1 draw to Anna.

“The tie was tough especially because we did so well in all of our other games,” junior Aaron Xu said. “But it just taught us we need to give 100 in all moments of a game.”
