Looking to move on to another round of playoffs, the Redhawks boys’ basketball team faces South Oak Cliff on Friday. They play for the area championship, and the team is ready to bring their all.

It’s a rematch for the boys’ basketball team Friday night when they play for the area championship against South Oak Cliff at JJ Pearce High School,

“SOC is a good team that plays hard and it’s going to be a challenge, but as coaches, we prepare our boys as if it’s a regular game, to play to go 1-0 at the end,” head coach Stephen Friar said. “Even though our playoff life is on the line, the boys have to take the game in the moment, do the best they can in that moment, and be as prepared as they can be.”

This won’t be the first encounter between the Redhawks and South Oak Cliff as SOC beat the Redhawks over winter break. But this time it’s win and advance, or lose and the season is over.

“We feel great, both physically and mentally, our coaches have done all they can to prepare us for a team like SOC, so now we got to translate it on the court,” senior Tristen Kailey said. “We’ve practiced how to handle the things SOC are known for, but overall we just have to play our game, dominate transitions, play solid defense, and play for each other.”
