Opinion: We all have bad days

Students are humans. Teachers are humans. Many people tend to forgot that at times. Teachers overlook the fact that students have many things outside their life at school. With that being said, some students spend more than eight hours of their day at school which means one-third of the day is spent sitting and learning. Then many students go home and face difficulties. Same goes for teachers. Students and teachers both need to step back and realize that sometimes we all have bad days.

Most students come to school ready to learn but sometimes learning is not the only thing on their mind. Students have lives outside of school and sometimes they can’t finish all their assignments. Obviously, students cannot come up with an excuse for every assignment but sometimes it’s quite impossible to get work done with things going on outside of school.

Take for example, a family death. After a huge loss, a student will be emotionally unstable which would intervene in the way of school work. Teachers should understand that under these dire situations, school work is not necessarily a priority. Instead of teachers ignoring the fact that a student may be having a bad day, they should try and understand the situation.

Teachers also go through things in their lives outside of teaching. Teachers also spend a good amount of their day at school. Which means students need to realize that teachers are humans and they also can have bad days just like the students. Outside of teaching, teachers have families and problems. They have feelings just like any other student on this campus. If you can tell your teacher is having a bad day, don’t try and get on their nerves. Instead of being loud and rambunctious, students should try and consider how the teacher feels.

The bigger picture is that we all have a life outside of school. We all spend a lot time at school but sometimes we just have bad days. Its human nature to feel emotions and we need to understand that it’s okay to just take a second and try to be there for each other.
