Teachers throughout the district and country are celebrated Monday through Friday as part of Teacher Appreciation Week.

“I always enjoy teacher appreciation week because it’s just a time to feel the love,” Humanities teacher Sarah Wiseman said. “PTSA got us snacks and a really delicious meal from Original ChopShop. The counselors also put together this wellness time where we did art activities and other fun stuff.”

Teachers aren’t appreciated enough according to sophomore Jovel Jovan.

“I have a lot of respect and gratitude for my teacher,” Jovan said. “They do so much but it seems like they receive so little in return a lot of the time. Teacher appreciation week just allows all of us students to make sure our teachers know they are loved.”

It’s hard for sophomore Sheen Saxena to imagine going through school without her favorite teachers.

“I could be having the worst day of my life but my teachers are always here with smiles on their faces and a helping hand,” Saxena said. “My teachers feel so much like friends because they are so much fun to be around and I couldn’t imagine it being any other way.”

For Wiseman, the profession may be hard, but it’s all worth it.

“Teaching is super hard because your teaching kids how to become good adults,” Wiseman said. “On top of teaching content you’re coaching these kids through life and teaching them etiquette and manners, which can be draining so getting your bucket filled back of during teacher appreciation week is nice. Teaching is also endlessly entertaining; there’s always something to do and it’s a privilege to see all my students grow.”
