Undefeated in district play, the Redhawk volleyball team will take on Walnut Grove Tuesday. With Walnut Grove being a brand new school, the team must be prepared for anything.
Taking on new competition Tuesday, the Redhawks volleyball team heads to the newly opened Walnut Grove High School in Prosper, seeking to continue their District 10-5A (5-0) win streak.
“We hope to go into the game confident and shut them down as quickly as possible,” senior Grace Payne said.
For every game, the team conducts a scouting report on the opponent to learn what they’re up against. Being a new school, the Redhawks have little to judge Walnut Grove on.
“With the other teams in our district, a lot of the other teams are bringing back a lot of their same people so it’s a little bit easier for scout,” head coach Eighmy Dobbins said. “But with Walnut Grove ,just because we have never seen them play, [requires] more preparation on the front end.”
The new school comes with a 2,200-seat arena with seating on all four sides.
“Since we haven’t played in an arena in a very long time it might be a little intimidating,” Payne said. “But it shouldn’t affect our game.”
