According to Governor Abbott, the sessions would continue until school choice legislation was passed. 2023 ended without school vouchers being voted into law, bringing the question: what's next for school choice in Texas?
Stepping into the shoes of Texan government officials as they debate, write bill proposals, and vote on their work, Youth and Government competed in a district meet on Saturday in Dallas against other delegates for the Legislative branch of the club.
From 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., District 5 Legislative conference members met and put their preparation into action.
Senior and president, Sindhuja Pannuri, served as a chair for this competition as opposed to a delegate, and feels that it was an eye-opening experience to do so.
“As president, it feels good to hear the work that we put in paid off when we as a delegation get good scores,” Pannuri said. “I know everyone worked super hard, and to hear them say they were actively participating is really important.
