The Redhawks cross country team competes in their first meet of the 2024-25 school year, a two-mile run, Friday night at 6 p.m. at Warren Park.
“We’re looking forwards to the first meet of the season as a fun little night race,” head cross country coach Khera Vay said. “It’s a lot shorter than our typical race, but all of the athletes have been training really hard all summer and into official training season. It’s always good to get out and run the first one because it gives us a good baseline for where we are and what we need to do.”
For junior Caitlyn Ruback, the meet signifies the culmination of months of preparation.
“I’m really excited to use all of the hard work that I’ve put in this summer and run some PR’s with it,” Ruback said. “Every week we’ve been cross-training and that’s been helping a lot so I think it should be a good meet even if it will be really hot.”
