With the homecoming dance quickly approaching, tickets are now available through Sept. 18 on Online School Fees for $25 or at the door on Homecoming night for $30. The dance, featuring the theme ‘Hollywood Homecoming,’ is scheduled for Sept. 21 from 7-10 p.m., and will be held on campus.
“The theme for Homecoming this year is Hollywood. We did this theme for the seniors our freshman year so we wanted to return to our roots and end off how we started,” Student Council Vice President, senior Kathryn Murphy said. “We are going all out this year. We plan on blowing up balloons and putting some other decorations up so attendees will just have to wait and see, but I promise it will be good.”
Excited about this year’s theme, junior Rupal Shirpurkar hopes to incorporate a Hollywood-inspired look into her outfit for the dance.
“I love the idea of having themes for our homecoming dances, and I think Hollywood was a great choice,” Shirpurkar said. “It’s broad enough to give everyone plenty of options, and it’s easy to find dresses that fit the theme. I’m excited to pick out my dress with the theme in mind.”
Leading up to the dance, StuCo is sponsoring five dress-up theme days.
“This year, we’re excited to do something everyone’s been asking for which is a versus week,” Murphy said. “Each day will have a fun theme. We’ll kick off with Monday’s Mathlete vs. Athlete, followed by Tuesday’s Country vs. Country Club. Wednesday will be Biker vs. Surfer, and on Thursday, we’ll celebrate with Mums, Garters, and class colors. Finally, we’ll wrap up the week on Friday by dressing as Hollywood stars.”
For junior Ayush Dane, versus week is something he’s looking forward to, especially Monday’s theme, as his role as an athlete makes it an easy and fun day to participate.
“I can’t wait to dress up for versus week,” Dane said. “I’m especially looking forward to Monday’s theme because as an athlete myself, it will be an easy theme to do.”
