Wingspan: What fine art are you in, and why did you choose that fine art?
Banerjee: “I’m in orchestra, and I’ve always wanted to play the violin so I chose it in sixth grade and I really liked it, so I wanted to keep doing it.”
Wingspan: What orchestra are you in?
Banerjee: “I’m in Philharmonic, which is the fourth one.”
Wingspan: What is your favorite part about being in the orchestra?
Banerjee: “I really like how we sound playing together as a group and I think especially with the concerts, we’ve all been working for so long on our music, so I really like hearing how we sound as an ensemble and also hearing everyone else play. I also love making friends and meeting all the other orchestra people.”
Wingspan: What is the most challenging aspect of being in orchestra?
Banerjee: “Definitely playing in the group, like making sure everyone’s playing together and that everyone’s matching.”
Wingspan: Is there anything regarding the commitment of orchestra that’s challenging?
Banerjee: “No, I think the commitment is pretty fair. We just kinda have to learn our music so we know what we’re doing and know our music.”
Wingspan: If you were going to give advice to someone who might want to join orchestra, what advice would you give?
Banerjee: “You should totally go for it. Orchestra is super fun and it is worth it. It teaches you discipline and how to work together, and it’s a creative outlet.”
