Hoping to bounce back from a 64-60 overtime loss and secure a spot in the playoffs, the boys’ basketball team (6-5) hits the road to face Emerson (6-5), who the Redhawks beat 56-51 earlier in the season.
The Redhawks boys’ basketball team (8-3) started their Thanksgiving break off with a loss to the Panther Creek Panthers (6-6) Nov. 22.
However, it didn’t take long for the Redhawks to get back on track, as they won all four of their games in the Lone Star Shootout Nov. 25 and 26, defeating the Celina Bobcats (8-5) 85-76; the Keller Central Chargers (0-10) 57-48; the Oklahoma City Storm (1-7) 61-47; and the Denton Broncos (7-8) 53-42.
“We saw our team continue to improve on the defensive end,” assistant coach Robert Wilson said. “We went up against some solid competition and defended against a variety of offenses throughout the four game stretch. We were selective in our shot attempts to ensure we got the best one available. We watched some film of our opponents and ourselves to reinforce tendencies we want to continue seeing and parts of the game we need to move away from.”
Junior Gilbert Aluga sees the break as an overall success for the Redhawks.
“We brought a lot of the energy we needed to our games, and it was very fun,” Aluga said.
