The district wrestling tournament isn’t until Jan. 29, but the Redhawks are using every opportunity to see where they are, and how they can improve. The War Games tournament at Memorial High School on Saturday was the latest chance for the team to hit the mat, but it didn’t go as well as the coaches wanted.
“We found out there is a lot of little details,” girls’ head coach Viviana Espinoza said. “We need to tune so we are fine tuning that process.
“The past weekend’s War Games weren’t our best performance for both boys and girls,” boys’ head coach Justin Koons said. “There is definitely room for improvement. Next week for boys is districts so hopefully we will be prepared for that and compete hard.”
Even though the team had some top finishes including a second place for junior Dani Banks, she knows there’s work to be done.
“We didn’t do that good individually and as a team,” Banks said. “Hopefully we do better next week. We are going to lock in this week.”
