Seeking to avenge a loss from earlier in the season, the boys’ basketball team (6-4) hosts Memorial (7-3) Friday at 7:15 p.m.
With the Warriors at second place in District 11-5A and the Redhawks hot on their heels in third in a tie with Emerson, the team could likely find themselves in yet another close game. Assistant coach Robert Wilson knows that this is something they need to remedy in order to pull off a win.
“Our weakness has been letting leads slip late in games,” assistant coach Robert Wilson said. “In some of recent our games, we’ve been up by double-digit margins with only a few minutes left to play and have let our opponents score to make it a one-possession game or win.”
Sophomore Gideon Akemi believes consistency is the answer.
“We just need to make sure that we maintain possession of the ball as long as possible and pressure them into turning the ball over,” Akemi said.
