The school’s Students Against Cancer Club is a non-curricular club that aims to address the various issues related to cancer.
“So for instance, we host tons of fundraisers, donation drives, and advocacy events that aim to raise awareness, money, and benefit people affected by cancer,” sophomore Alan Christopher Rajkumar said.
Students who missed the opportunity to join the club can still participate in the events.
“You can join our club anytime, and there’s tons of benefits involved for club members as well,” Rajkumar said. “For example, you can earn volunteer hours, you can get officer positions, and, most importantly, you can make a difference in the battle against cancer. To join our club, just join our Remind, which is LHSSAC2425.“
The club plans to have more events in the future and meets every Thursday before school.
“It’s a good opportunity for the students to come and learn more about the science and statistics behind cancer,” club sponsor Jennifer Herrera said. “They are also given an opportunity to participate in the fundraisers that raise money that directly affect the community and those families who are dealing with the effects of cancer.”
