Redhawks in orchestra now have the opportunity to apply for leadership positions on various officer teams. “We welcome all students in our orchestra program to apply, we have actually encouraged them,” associate orchestra director Brandon Lucio said. “We invite every single one to a live interview where we get to talk with them and just get to know them a little bit more and [understand] why exactly they want to be an officer specifically for their position.”
As the 2024-2025 school year is coming to a close, orchestra is opening up officer applications for next school year.
There are four different officer teams consisting of several different positions, all of which are open for application.
“The orchestra student council is made up of several – I guess you could consider them branches,” associate orchestra director Brandon Lucio said. “There’s the presidential team, there´s the historians, logistics, and publicists.”
Those applying go through a process, with one part of the application happening online and the other happening in-person.
“We welcome all students in our orchestra program to apply, we have actually encouraged them,” Lucio said. “We invite every single one to a live interview where we get to talk with them and just get to know them a little bit more and [understand] why exactly they want to be an officer specifically for their position.”
For one student, the opportunity to contribute to orchestra’s social media account was why she applied for the publicist position.
“I decided to apply for publicist for the orchestra because that’s really the only one that I have interest in,” junior Rupal Shirpurkar said. “I feel like it’s just nice having control over Instagram and TikTok for new ideas to post about.”
Sophomore Allison Truong was a logistics officer this year, but is applying for positions on the presidential team for next year.
“As junior VP (vice president) or secretary, my main goal is to incorporate more student feedback into organizing socials and other events since most of the events we plan now are recycled from past years,” Truong said.
