After successfully carrying a winning momentum over their past few games, the baseball team (6-6) lost to Memorial (8-4) 15-0 at home Thursday as the Redhawks bats stayed quiet.
“It was by far the worst game we had played,” head coach Scott McGarrh said. “Our starting pitcher got hurt, which put us in a bind because we had to get someone else quickly, and that person wasn’t mentally ready to come in so there weren’t many positives.”
The Redhawks are now in tie with Independence for the fourth and final playoff spot in District 11-5A with senior Drew Miller understanding the Redhawks need to get better contact.
“Definitely some of our challenges were hitting,” Miller said. “They had a good pitcher out there, and it was pretty hard to hit off and on that.”
