After three years of having a budget deficit, Frisco ISD is aiming for a balanced budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year. At a recent workshop, district officials showcased preliminary budget numbers for the 25-26 including $637 million in available revenue, $15.2 million in cost savings, leaving a $5.4 million shortfall. However, the district’s chief finance and strategy officer, Kimberly Smith said the shortfall is expected to event out by the time the budget is finalized at the end of the 2025-26 school year.
Final budget numbers could change however depending on what happens in Austin in the current legislative session. House Bill 2 would provide school districts such as FISD with more funds while Senate Bill 26 would provide raises to teachers of $2,500 to teachers with three to four years of experience, and $5,500 for teachers with five or more years of experience
A final budget recommendation is expected to be presented to the Board of Trustees in May, with a vote to adopt a budget in June.
