I can’t believe the time has come for me to say goodbye to this program. I’ve been a part of the journalism program for four years, and being on the Wingspan staff has afforded me so many opportunities. To never having to pay to get into sports games, to leaving school to interview the mayor, I have just been blessed with so many opportunities to grow as an individual and student.
It is through Wingspan I have met some of the greatest friends and colleagues. I have had a wonderful mentor, Brian Higgins, who showed me tough love and respect. It will never be the same after Wingspan as it has set the bar too high.
Winning all of those awards were just a part of why I am so proud to have been part of Wingspan. The passion for journalism I see in the underclassmen and the level of respect and recognition we get locally is just so rewarding as well.
There were times I struggled with the workload, especially after taking on the role of Editor-in-Chief, but it was through those struggles that I learned the most and challenged myself. But those times were made worth it by all of the great memories I made. I got to go to the grand opening of Peppa Pig World, play white elephant before Winter break, and be on the sidelines of football games.
Thank you Wingspan, Higgins, and all of the staff for making my experience so amazing. I will admire this organization for years to come. This is Christine Han signing off.
