As the 2024–25 sports season wraps up, preparation for the next one is already underway—and it starts this summer.
Athletic programs across campus are offering a variety of summer camps aimed at giving athletes a strong foundation before the new school year begins. According to coaches, these sessions play a key role in building strength, endurance, and agility that can lead to improved performance when the season starts.
“These two months leading into the next year are vital,” said football coach Marlon Burnette. “If you know how the body works, you can’t go eight weeks off without straining and pushing yourself to try and get better at your sport. That’s where the strength and conditioning sessions come in.”
Students interested in signing up can visit FISD’s Rank One camp registration site to browse available options and secure their spot.
With more than two months between the end of one school year and the beginning of another, these summer camps are designed to keep athletes in shape and mentally prepared for competition.
“We are going to push you to the brink,” Burnette said. “We’re going to make sure you are safe, and we are also going to make sure that your form, conditioning, and agility will translate to your sport. This is beneficial for any sport on campus—even the debate team. We will increase your cardiorespiratory system so you don’t run out of breath while debating. Every sport can participate during the summer. We’re looking forward to seeing you.”
